Professor Deng’s research has focused on wireless positioning theory and engineering technology, with particular emphasis on high-precision positioning over wide-area wireless networks, heterogeneous multi-source collaborative positioning, and seamless intelligent positioning across indoor and outdoor environments. Through sustained research in wireless communications, positioning algorithms, and multi-source information fusion, he established theoretical and technological frameworks for wide-area wireless network high-precision positioning and heterogeneous multi-source collaborative positioning. His work addressed key technical challenges associated with achieving high-precision, wide-coverage, low-cost, and seamless positioning across diverse indoor and outdoor environments, contributing to the development of new approaches to wireless-network-based positioning and trusted communications. These technologies have supported applications in national positioning, navigation, and timing systems, production-safety assurance, and major offshore engineering projects, while contributing to the broader development of wireless positioning research and engineering in China. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and holds multiple patents. Through sustained leadership of national research programmes and major engineering initiatives, Professor Deng has contributed to connecting advances in wireless communication and positioning theory with practical requirements in precision navigation, intelligent infrastructure, industrial safety, and large-scale engineering systems.
