Professor Guo’s research has focused on space Earth information science, with particular emphasis on remote sensing information mechanisms, radar-based Earth observation, and digital Earth science. Through sustained research and leadership of major national programmes and international collaborative networks, he has contributed to the theoretical development and engineering application of radar remote sensing, the establishment of digital Earth platforms, and the integration of big Earth data with research on sustainable development. He currently leads the CAS Category A Strategic Pioneer Science and Technology Special Project “Big Earth Data Science Engineering” and the National Natural Science Foundation of China Major Project “Lunar-Based Observation Research on Earth’s Macro-Scientific Phenomena.” He has authored more than 600 peer-reviewed publications and 16 monographs and edited volumes and has received 16 national and international science and technology awards. Through his leadership in the Digital Belt and Road programme, UNESCO initiatives on space technologies for cultural and natural heritage, and international digital Earth research, Professor Guo has contributed to connecting advances in Earth observation and geospatial information science with applications in sustainable development, disaster risk reduction, and international scientific cooperation across Eurasia.
