Professor He’s research has focused on the theoretical study of world modernisation, with particular emphasis on the theory of the second modernisation, the development of modernisation science, and the quantitative assessment of national modernisation processes. Through theoretical research, comparative analysis, and empirical assessment, he has developed comprehensive indicators and evaluation systems for examining modernisation across economic, social, cultural, and ecological dimensions. These approaches have provided a systematic basis for analysing patterns of national modernisation and for informing research and policy discussions on development. He has authored numerous monographs and research reports on modernisation theory and practice and is a Member of the New York Academy of Sciences. His work has also addressed comparative perspectives on social transformation and sustainable development, contributing to academic dialogue between different intellectual traditions. Through long-term leadership of national research institutions and think tanks, together with international academic collaboration, Professor He has contributed to the development of modernisation studies as an interdisciplinary field connecting social-science theory, quantitative assessment, and the strategic study of national development.
