Elected Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2018, Professor Jiankun He is a distinguished Chinese management scientist and energy economist whose research has contributed to energy systems engineering, low-carbon development, and climate change strategy and policy. Born in 1945 in Anping, Hebei Province, he graduated from the Department of Engineering Physics at Tsinghua University in 1970 and has pursued his academic career at the university. From 1994 to 2007, he served as Vice President of Tsinghua University, concurrently serving as Executive Vice President, and was Dean of the School of Economics and Management from 2005 to 2006. Through sustained research and participation in national strategic consulting and international collaborative programmes, he has contributed to the analysis of China’s energy transition and climate policy, including research supporting strategies for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. His work has integrated quantitative energy-system analysis with economic and policy considerations, providing a basis for assessing alternative pathways for low-carbon development and energy transformation. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and policy reports and has contributed to national and international discussions on sustainable development and green transformation. Through long-term research, leadership of major national research programmes, and service on policy advisory bodies, Professor He has contributed to connecting systems-oriented energy research with practical questions of energy security, climate mitigation, and sustainable economic development.
