Professor Huang’s research has focused on the identification, quality control, conservation, and ecological cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine resources, with particular emphasis on the molecular authentication of medicinal species, the sustainable harvesting of wild medicinal resources, and the development of good agricultural practice standards for cultivated medicinal plants. Through national research programmes and international collaborative networks, he has contributed to the scientific development of traditional Chinese medicine resource management and to the standardisation of quality assurance practices. His research has received three National Science and Technology Progress Awards (Second Prize), two Beijing Science and Technology Progress Awards (Second Prize), two Science and Technology Awards from the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine (Second Prize), two Science and Technology Awards from the China Association of Chinese Medicine (Second Prize), and two Chinese Medical Science and Technology Awards (one Second Prize and one Third Prize). Through sustained research and engagement in national and international scientific collaboration, Professor Huang has contributed to connecting traditional Chinese medicine resource science with modern approaches to pharmacognosy, quality control, and sustainable resource utilisation.
