Elected Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2014, Professor Qingquan Li is a distinguished Chinese photogrammetrist and remote sensing scientist whose research has focused on intelligent transportation systems, mobile mapping, and precision engineering surveying. Born in January 1965 in Tianchang, Anhui Province, he received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Department of Engineering Surveying at Wuhan College of Surveying and Mapping (now Wuhan University), and his Ph.D. in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing from Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping in 1998. He was elected Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2023. Professor Li has spent much of his academic career at Wuhan University, where he progressed from teaching assistant to lecturer, associate professor, professor, and doctoral supervisor, and served as Vice President and Executive Vice President from 2000 to 2012. In July 2012, he was appointed President of Shenzhen University and has served concurrently as Party Secretary since 2020. He currently serves as First-Level Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Shenzhen University and as Vice Chairman of the Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He was selected as a national-level candidate of the National Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talent Project and the Ministry of Education New Century Talent Programme, and was appointed in 2016 as a member of the Earth Science and Resources Division of the Seventh Ministry of Education Science and Technology Committee. In 2018, he served as a Deputy to the 13th National People’s Congress.

Professor Li’s research has centred on photogrammetry, remote sensing, intelligent transportation systems, and precision engineering surveying, with particular emphasis on mobile mapping, intelligent vehicle navigation, and multi-sensor integration for real-time spatial data acquisition. Through national research programmes and international collaboration, his work has contributed to the development of mobile laser scanning technologies, intelligent transportation systems, and the application of geospatial information science to urban management and disaster response. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and monographs and has received multiple national and ministerial science and technology awards. Through sustained engagement in research, university administration, and international scientific collaboration, Professor Li has contributed to connecting advances in geomatics and geospatial information science with practical applications in smart-city development, intelligent transportation, and sustainable urbanisation.
