Professor Li’s research has centred on computer vision, artificial intelligence, optoelectronics, and intelligent imaging, with particular emphasis on the integration of visual data processing and optoelectronic image acquisition. His work addresses both the intelligent processing of visual information and the optoelectronic technologies used to acquire and analyse visual imagery. Through interdisciplinary research, he has developed research directions in areas including multimodal cognitive computing and near-ground security and defence. Professor Li is a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Optical Society of America (OSA), the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET/IEE). He was the first mainland Chinese scholar elected to the Executive Committee of AAAI. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in international journals and conferences, with research spanning artificial intelligence, computer vision, and optoelectronic intelligence. Through sustained research, participation in national scientific programmes, and international academic collaboration, Professor Li has contributed to connecting advances in computer vision and artificial intelligence with optoelectronic imaging, multimodal perception, and the development of intelligent information systems.
