Professor Li’s research has centred on international strategy, cross-strait relations, Taiwan studies, and China’s foreign policy, with particular emphasis on the historical, legal, and political dimensions of Taiwan’s status and the strategic environment of the Asia-Pacific region. Since the 1995 Taiwan Strait crisis, he has been consulted by national decision-making bodies on Taiwan-related policy and has contributed academic analysis and policy research in this area. In 1999, he published a signed article in People’s Daily and Qiushi, which was subsequently broadcast on China Central Television’s Xinwen Lianbo, addressing Lee Teng-hui’s remarks on Taiwan’s political status and presenting an analysis of the historical and contemporary dimensions of cross-strait relations. He has served as a Deputy to the 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th National People’s Congress and as a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and policy reports on international relations and cross-strait affairs. Through sustained research, policy consultation, and international academic collaboration, Professor Li has contributed to scholarly and policy discussions concerning cross-strait relations, international security, regional affairs, and China’s foreign relations.
