Elected Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2004, Professor Quan Lin is a distinguished Chinese physicist whose research has focused on condensed matter physics, superconductivity, and quantum materials. Born in 1940, he has pursued his research career at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), where he currently serves as Research Professor. His professional career has also included senior responsibilities in science and technology administration. He previously served as Secretary-General of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and as Deputy Leader of the Expert Advisory Group for the National 973 Programme.

Professor Lin’s research has centred on condensed matter physics, with particular emphasis on superconductivity, strongly correlated electron systems, and the physical properties of quantum materials. Through sustained research and participation in major national basic research programmes, he has contributed to the development of fundamental physics research in China. His professional work has also encompassed science and technology policy, strategic planning, and the organisation of national basic research programmes, including the National 973 Programme. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in physics and related fields. Through continued engagement in fundamental research, national research programmes, and science and technology administration, Professor Lin has contributed to connecting advances in condensed matter physics with broader questions of scientific strategy, research infrastructure, and the development of China’s national innovation capacity.
