Elected Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 1998, Professor Yunhe Pan is a distinguished Chinese computer scientist whose research and professional work have focused on artificial intelligence, computer graphics, computer-aided design, and intelligent systems. Born on 4 November 1946 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, he received his B.Arch. from the Department of Architecture at Tongji University in 1970 and his M.S. in Computer Applications from Zhejiang University in 1981. He was elected Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 1998. At Zhejiang University, he served as Director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence from 1989, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science from 1991, Vice President from 1994, and President and Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee from 1995 to 2006. From June 2006 to June 2014, he served as Executive Vice President, at ministerial level, and Deputy Party Secretary of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He currently serves as Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the National New Generation Artificial Intelligence Strategy, Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the Zhejiang University Shaoxing Research Institute, and Chairman of the Seventh Council of the China Invention Association. He also served as a member of the Standing Committee of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of its Foreign Affairs Committee.

Professor Pan’s research has focused on artificial intelligence, computer graphics, computer-aided design, industrial design, intelligent systems, and knowledge-based engineering, including the application of artificial intelligence to creative design and urban intelligence. Through sustained research, academic leadership, and participation in national strategic initiatives, he has contributed to the development of artificial intelligence research and applications in China, including intelligent manufacturing and smart-city technologies. His work has addressed the integration of artificial intelligence with design, engineering, and traditional industries, and has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications and monographs. Through academic leadership and engagement with national research and policy institutions, Professor Pan has contributed to discussions and initiatives concerning artificial intelligence development, technological innovation, industrial digital transformation, and the application of intelligent technologies to urban and industrial development.
