Elected Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2016, Professor Yingxian Sun is a distinguished Chinese cardiologist whose research and professional work have focused on cardiovascular disease, cardiac electrophysiology, arrhythmia, and cardiac pacing. Born on 21 January 1962 in Xinmin, Liaoning Province, he undertook joint postgraduate training at Peking University First Hospital in 1993. From October 1999 to November 2001, he conducted research in cardiac electrophysiology and pacing at the Heart Rhythm Institute, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Oklahoma State University, USA. In 2002, he was appointed Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, where he currently serves as Professor, Chief Physician, and Doctoral Supervisor.

Professor Sun’s research has centred on cardiovascular disease, with particular emphasis on cardiac electrophysiology, mechanisms of arrhythmia, and the clinical application of cardiac pacing and defibrillation technologies. Through clinical and translational research programmes, he has contributed to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and to the development of interventional cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology in China. His work has been published in peer-reviewed cardiovascular journals and has included research on arrhythmia mechanisms, electrophysiological diagnosis, and pacing and defibrillation therapies. Through sustained clinical research, postgraduate supervision, and participation in national cardiovascular research programmes and international academic collaboration, Professor Sun has contributed to connecting advances in cardiac electrophysiology and interventional cardiology with clinical practice, medical education, and the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease.
