Daowen WANG
Profile:
Elected Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2020, Professor Daowen Wang is a distinguished Chinese cardiologist whose research and professional work have focused on cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and gene-based precision medicine. Born in 1953, he currently serves as Professor, Chief Physician, and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He also serves as Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine, Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Director of the Hypertension Research Institute, and Director of the Center for Translational Medicine and Genetic Diagnosis at Tongji Hospital. His clinical and academic work has encompassed cardiovascular disease, hypertension, genetic diagnosis, and the translation of advances in biomedical research into clinical practice.

Professor Wang’s research has centred on the clinical diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, with particular emphasis on risk factors for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, endogenous protective mechanisms, and the application of evidence-based medicine in clinical practice. He has contributed to the development of standardised approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and to clinical management of hypertension. His work has also advanced the application of genetic diagnosis and personalised medicine, including the development of more than 600 gene-diagnosis projects addressing a range of complex clinical conditions. His research and clinical programmes have included genetic diagnosis of arrhythmias, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, infantile jaundice, and large-vessel diseases, contributing to the application of genomic information in clinical decision-making. Through sustained clinical research, translational work, and medical practice, Professor Wang has contributed to connecting advances in cardiovascular medicine and genetic diagnosis with practical applications in precision medicine, evidence-based clinical care, and the diagnosis and management of complex cardiovascular diseases.
