Jiyang WANG
Profile:
Elected Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2001, Professor Jiyang Wang is a distinguished Chinese geologist and hydrogeologist whose research and professional work have focused on geothermal hydrogeology and the exploration and utilisation of geothermal resources. Born in 1935, he was elected Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1995 and Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2001. He currently serves as a Research Professor at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His academic career has centred on the study of geothermal systems in China and on the development of scientific approaches for their exploration, assessment, and sustainable utilisation.

Professor Wang’s research has centred on geothermal hydrogeology, with particular emphasis on geothermal resource exploration, evaluation, and sustainable development. Through extensive field investigations and theoretical research in major geothermal regions of China, he has contributed to understanding the geological and hydrogeological characteristics of geothermal systems and to the development of methodologies for geothermal exploration and resource assessment. His research has also supported the evaluation of geothermal energy as a renewable resource and provided scientific input for its development and utilisation in China. Through numerous peer-reviewed publications and monographs, as well as long-standing supervision and training of researchers, Professor Wang has contributed to the development of hydrogeology and geothermal science in China and to the cultivation of researchers working in these fields. Through sustained research, participation in national research programmes, and international scientific collaboration, he has contributed to connecting fundamental advances in geothermal hydrogeology with practical applications in renewable energy development, resource sustainability, and environmental management.
