Professor Wang’s research has centred on artificial intelligence, natural language processing, deep learning, and intelligent computing, with particular emphasis on large-scale language models, machine translation, and knowledge graph technologies. Through academic research and leadership of AI research and development at Baidu, he has contributed to the development of deep learning technologies and their application in search, autonomous driving, intelligent cloud services, and other areas. His work has also been associated with the development and application of the PaddlePaddle deep learning framework. As first completer, he has received the National Technology Invention Award (Second Prize), the National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize), the China Patent Gold Award, the First Prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the Special Prize of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Progress Award, and the First Prize of the Chinese Institute of Electronics Science and Technology Progress Award. He has also received the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award, the First National Award for Innovation and Excellence, and the inaugural Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Award for Outstanding Contribution. With more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and more than 200 authorised patents, his research and technology-development activities have contributed to connecting advances in artificial intelligence and language technologies with practical applications in intelligent computing, natural language processing, and digital services.
