Profile:
Elected Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2018, Professor Wei Wang is a distinguished Chinese physician-scientist whose research and professional work have focused on integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, syndrome differentiation, and cardiovascular pharmacology. Born in September 1964 in Jungar Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, he enrolled at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 1984 and began his professional career in 1992. He subsequently held a series of academic and administrative positions at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, including Director of the Science, Research and Industry Management Division, Executive Vice Dean of the Graduate School, and Vice President. He currently serves as a Second-Level Professor, Chief Physician, and Doctoral Supervisor in Integrated Chinese and Western Pharmacology, as well as Director of the Key Laboratory of Syndrome and Prescription Basic Research of the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipality. He was a recipient of the inaugural Qi Huang Scholar honour and was selected as a national-level candidate of the National Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talent Project. In 2019, he received the Wu Jieping Pharmaceutical Innovation Award.

Professor Wang’s research has centred on the modernisation of traditional Chinese medicine, with particular emphasis on the molecular mechanisms of heart failure, syndrome-based precision medicine, and the clinical evaluation of classical prescriptions. His work has combined approaches from traditional Chinese medicine with modern pharmacology and biomedical research to investigate the biological basis of disease syndromes and the mechanisms and clinical application of traditional prescriptions. As a principal investigator of the National Key Research and Development Programme on the modernisation of traditional Chinese medicine, he has participated in national research efforts addressing the integration of traditional medical theory with contemporary biomedical methods. His academic and clinical work has also contributed to research on cardiovascular pharmacology and the evaluation of integrated Chinese and Western medical approaches. Through sustained clinical research, academic leadership, and participation in national research programmes, Professor Wang has contributed to connecting traditional Chinese medical theory with modern pharmacological research, precision approaches to syndrome differentiation, and the clinical evaluation of TCM interventions.
