Professor Zeng’s research has centred on forecasting and decision-making methods and their applications in investment and finance. His work has addressed growth-trend forecasting, new-product diffusion, combination forecasting and decision models, portfolio investment, real-options models for technological innovation investment and pricing, financial-market microstructure, market efficiency, behavioural finance, and credit-risk assessment. His research on combined forecasting and decision-making methods and their application to international investment received a National Science and Technology Progress Award, while his work on economic forecasting theory received a First Prize of the former Ministry of Electronics Industry for scientific and technological progress. As principal investigator, he has led national research projects on technological innovation and patent strategy, financial-market microstructure, credit-risk migration in China’s banking system, and foreign strategic investment in Chinese banks. He has published more than 100 academic papers and six monographs. As President of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, he also led a systematic reform of undergraduate engineering education, developing an emerging-engineering education model that was subsequently recognised through provincial teaching achievement awards and adopted as a reference for engineering education reform. Through sustained research in forecasting, finance, and innovation economics, together with university leadership and educational reform, Professor Zeng has contributed to connecting management science with financial practice and to the development of management education and engineering talent cultivation in China.
