Fusuo ZHANG

Elected Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2014, Professor Fusuo Zhang is a distinguished Chinese plant nutritionist whose research and professional work have focused on plant nutrition, nutrient management, and the green development of agriculture. Born in October 1960 in Fengxiang County, Shaanxi Province, he received his B.S. in soil agrochemistry from Northwest Agricultural College, now Northwest A&F University, in 1982, his M.S. from Beijing Agricultural University in 1985, and his Ph.D. from the University of Hohenheim in Germany in 1989, followed by postdoctoral research at Beijing Agricultural University. He has spent his academic career at China Agricultural University, where he served as Dean of the College of Resources and Environmental Sciences and has directed research institutions concerned with resources, environment, food security, and green agriculture. He has also chaired or served on international and national professional bodies in plant nutrition and agricultural science, including the International Plant Nutrition Council, and has participated in national agricultural policy and advisory work. Elected a Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2017 and a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences in 2018, he has received the TWAS Prize for Agricultural Science, the International Crop Nutrition Award, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress, and the GCHERA World Agriculture Prize. His career has combined research in plant nutrition with agricultural extension, policy development, and the training of agricultural scientists.
