Liming LI

Elected Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2017, Professor Liming Li is a distinguished Chinese public health scientist and epidemiologist whose career has focused on disease prevention and control, chronic disease epidemiology, and health policy. Born in May 1956 in Beijing, he received his B.S. from the Department of Health at Beijing Medical College (now Peking University Health Science Center) in 1982 and his M.D. in Epidemiology from Beijing Medical University in 1986. He pursued advanced training at the School of Public Health and the Heart Research Institute, University of Hawaii, from 1987 to 1988, followed by postdoctoral research at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health from 1990 to 1991. He subsequently served as Vice Dean and Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Public Health, Beijing Medical University (1988–1990), Dean of the same school (1992–2000), Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the Medical Division at Peking University (2000), President of the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine (2000–2002), and Director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (2002). From 2005 to 2016, he served as Executive Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and, from 2007 to 2016, as its Party Secretary. He currently serves as Boya Distinguished Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Public Health, Peking University, and Director of the Peking University Strategic Research Center for Public Health and Major Epidemic Prevention and Control. Since 2018, he has also served as Dean of the Meinian Public Health Research Institute, Peking University Health Science Center.
